"My family and I are moving to the area soon and we are concerned about the low ratings for San Tan Heights Elementary School. The test scores seem to have been high for a couple of years and have dropped off drastically (according to this site's info). Does anyone know the reason for this? My initial reaction is to ask, "What in the world's going on over there?" I know tree can be circumstances that are hard to see from the outside but I hate to take the chance with my daughter's education. It appears that this school is below the state average on most of the state tests and I am wondering what's being done to remedy the trend. Any thoughts from parents or teachers in the area? Thanks, Concerned Parent"

"This is in response to the post below regarding parent volunteers. I told my child's teacher back in August at Meet the Teacher that my schedule allows me to volunteer any day of the week at any time needed. I also inquired again many times throughout the school year but was told every time I asked that she didn't need any help and there was nothing for me to do. Unfortunately, I was not able to get involved as I had hoped. Speaking from the other side of the spectrum, I think if more teachers were parent volunteer friendly, than more parents might get involved. With that being said, I have seen a lot of improvements for the better at STH this school year! My child does extremely well and by the end of each school year is always ahead academically. We are looking forward to next school year!"

"San Tan Heights Elementary needs the community's help to bring this school around and make it a great place to get an education. The parents need to help our staff make learning fun for our students. We need better turn out when we have events that celebrate our students. We need parents that might be able to volunteer their time, or buy supplies when they can for their child's teacher. Volunteering need only be for one to two hours a week. You can help a teacher with copying, help the PTO with their activities, there are a number of things that a parent volunteer can do to make this school a GREAT SCHOOL. We already have the dedicated teachers and staff - all it takes is our parents to join us and we can have one great school. Please help out when you can and if you can't be here in person ask your child's teacher how you might help them from your home. Show an interest in your child's work and school - you will see how much of a difference this can make between having a school that teaches children and a SCHOOL THAT CELEBRATES OUR CHILDREN!!!!"

"I think that it is sad that this forum is used in such a negative way. When disgruntled employees are able to make allegations and name names creating a negative image of teachers and administration something must be done. The disclaimer on this review says that GreatSchools.org will not post reviews that contain allegations, names of students, teachers or staff and then they post the reviews anyway. The administration, teachers and staff all are working very hard to recreate the schools image, students success and overall effectiveness of our school. When an organization such as this allows such posts without honoring their own guidelines it creates a website of hostility. I think that our consumers are very intelligent and can make their own decisions about our school without the hateful comments that have been allowed to be posted here."

"My childs biggest complant was that the class was loud a lot. I then spent some time in my childs class last school year I found that students were disruptive and loud and the teacher didn't seem to care. This wasn't a good learning enviroment. There was one child that romed the halls most of the day with his own hall pass. I didn't think the office staff was very friendly. And what does the principal do there anyway. I think most of the Honor Roll Awards were given out just to make the school look good. The students may have made the grade but may not have earned it. I'm sorry but I gave the school many chances over the years. It was time to move on."
