"My son attended 2 yrs in the K-2 area. I noticed mistakes that had been on GRADED homework; so obviously neither teacher properly does what is expected of ANYONE WORTHY OF HAVING A LICENSE TO TEACH. If parent is highly involved, and reviews every asssignment and test that comes home with them: They will easily get onto the honor roll. DON'T EXPECT THE TEACHERS TO DO EVERYTHING...WE AS PARENTS HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO OUR KIDS TO KNOW & REVIEW EVERYTHING WITH THEM. I consider this to be just a tiny bit below "AVERAGE" because many improvements need to be made. There are children being beat-up and abused by other students on campus. No discipline ever occurs, but any student can tell you of something they've personally witnessed. Just ask.. it's TRUE! Teachers often pick "pets"; and then tend to ignore other students. Then they will turn a "bilnd eye" to the children who are failing. Teachers seem pre-occupied, self-absorbed, and with a lack of experience or sound moral charachter (One or another). My son did very well there academically; but i think it is mostly due to the HOME-SCHOOLING he recieved from me while in attendence at this school."

"We moved here from Canada, august 2011. My son had attended kindergarten in Canada, and was going into the 1st grade. Not only had he started 2 months behind, he was also one of the youngest in his class, and he was WAY behind! We came into the year and I found the children far more advanced than he was. Basically he had learned very little in Canada, and was incredibly not prepared, and overwhelmed. With the help of his AMAZING teacher, Mrs. Espinoza, he made HUGE strides throughout the year, and ended up on the honor roll. I have seen my fair share of teachers that doesn't care, where it is easier to fail the child and have them re-do a class, this was not the case, his teacher took it upon herself to really guide him and help him, and I am SO proud that he will be going into the 2nd grade and he's totally ready."

"We just moved here from California last year and my daughter has been attending kindergarten here with teacher Mrs. Ryba, and my daughter pretty much loved coming to school and had a great school year. She was quite behind though academically, but in thankful that she had such an great teacher to bring it to my attention and give me advice as well as help as to how to help my daughter out. Mrs. Ryba is honestly such an awesome caring, involved, concerned, and helpful when it comes to her students! She wants each student to progress, and it defiantly shows. She kept me in the know about everything when it came to my daughters behaviour, progress, and things she needed help with. Which helped me help my daughter. Overall I liked having my daughter here. I hope she has an awesome 1st grade teacher as great as Mrs. Ryba!!! I would defiantly recommend this school for kindergarten."

"We moved from Ohio schools to Walker Butte and I was amazed at how far behind Ohio schools were! All of the teachers kept in constant communications with me so that my sons could get caught up. I now have 3 children in Walker Butte k-2 and am amazed at everything. I haven't come across anything yet that I don't like. For recommendations, Mrs. Ryba (K) totally rocks! Mrs. Madrid (1) is super wonderful! Mrs. Morgan (2) is fantastic too! These teachers styles are fun and know how to get the kid's attention. I know as I have volunteered in all 3 of them many times. I have made requests that my other children fall into those classes as they get to those grades. The teachers know when to spot problems early on so I can get tutoring to help and even help by spending extra time with them. I can't forget about the Reading Specialist, Mrs. Lopez. She has been such an amazing help with me oldest sons reading level. He is already caught up with the rest of his classmates and are making sure he'll be ready for 3rd. And all the students love her as she does lots of fun stuff to keep reading fun! I will rate again once I know more about the 3-8 campus."

"I am a mom who not satisfied with this school at all. This school has such a bad reputation between students and teachers. There is no daily/weekly reward system put in place school wide for these students who work hard, other than the honor roll, and not everyone gets on the honor roll. The teachers grading system is awful. Some are hard on their students when it comes to school work, while other teachers lack at not enough participation with the students. The PTA is awful. I've never seen an activity, or any involvement of the PTA at the school. There is an extreme shortage of parent volunteers. The Principal is not very good, and his office staff are extremely self centered. Their special needs department needs a make over, it's terrible. The 7-8th grade students who play sports, are extremely cocky. They are known to be extremely rough, and they manhandle other teams with out getting fouls called on them. Students hardly ever use the cross walks. Students are crossing all over the busy streets of the school. If you do not stop, the kids flip you off, and yell at you as you drive by. I would stay far away from this school as possible. I'm getting ready to move on out."
