"Totally disappointed in the school. If your kid attends the theater magnet program be prepared to fundraise insanely and tirelessly! Alot is not told to parents during orientation and you will not receive program info until 1.5 months into the program. If your kid does not fundraise excessively they will not be able to participate in some functions. We expected a wholesome, positive environment in the theater magnet but received the complete opposite! We made a choice to remove our student and place them in our zoned school for peace! We also needed several meetings with a core teacher because the teacher refused to allow graded test to come home or have the students see them. I was requested to come to the school to see the test. If you call one of the admin office(vice- principal) you will not receive a call back! After leaving DP we have sanity!"

"Our son graduated from the Theater Magnet program at Dr. Phillips in 2010. After being at this school four years, we can honestly say it is the best! Parent involvement is welcomed and encouraged. Students are dedicated to the program and participate wholeheartedly. The principal provides exemplary leadership by working with his staff, parents and students. He is the "heart" of this school. If your child has the opportunity to attend this wonderful school whether as a zoned student or a participant in one of its many Magnet programs, I would highly recommend you support them in their choice."
