"Very poor administration. Autocratic Board. I tried to attend the board meetings to express my points of views and was kicked out by the chair of the board despite most of the board members being absent from the meeting."

"If you would like for your child (1st grade) to be humiliated in front of his classmates because of a spot on his shirt or made stand in the corner because he couldn't stop giggling from a story they read earlier in story time. Then sure this school is for you , 80% of the teachers are heartless and will humiliate your child through out the day. Thanks to them your child will hate school forever. Thank God we made the right decision and left the school before my child needed a psychiatrist from the teachers bullying."

"GIS used to be a good school with wonderful and caring teachers, an excellent Arabic & IS program and led by an exemplary principal. The school board fired 6 of their teachers just before Ramadan and their summer break starts. These teachers have credentials and their only mistake was they dare to speak up. It is sad to see GIS deteriorate in such a manner just because of some power hungry board members who wanted to implement things without consulting the educators. It is even sadder when you realized that they actually wanted to do something good but are ruthless, impatient and willing to achieve it at all cost including affecting the livelihoods of 8 staffs. This is a sad moment in GIS' 26 year history. And this could have all been avoided if they had worked together with the former principal, teachers and HODs and listened to their input. We can only pray that they will find good credentialed teachers and principal to replace those they fired (6 teachers+2 admin) and many that left the school including HODs and senior Arabic teachers. It is almost a mass exodus of teachers."

"I've sent my child to Granada for 2 years since it's been considered the best Islamic school in the area but it was a big mistake. I agree with the parent mentioning kids who go to Granada should be able to deal with both emotional and academical stress. The after school club program this year is quite good for 1st grade and up. However, homework load is too much. Treatment toward children is centered around disciplining them. Rules are too rigid and punishment too harsh for young children. I'll not consider this school ever again and I do not recommend it to anyone who want their kids continue to love school. I believe most people are sending their kids to this school because of a lack of an alternative. When another alternative came up last year for 6th grade and up, two third of the parents preferred to move there from this school."

"Highly dedicated teachers and staff. High academic standards. One of the best Arabic programs. Starting to incorporate Islamic teachings into practical hands on activities that students can implement in their lives. Doing good outreach and service activities in middle school. Lots of improvement in character development. The best Islamic school in the bay area."
