"The school doesn't have the biggest budget (so we can't afford to hold some classes like Woodworking anymore, and we don't have some of the more expensive lab equipment like spectrophotometers), but it really does make the best with what it's given. From what I gathered in my time here, every teacher is encouraged to start teaching honors and AP courses after a few years of working here, and as a result we have every AP course with the exception of most of the languages, all of the arts, and the two economics-based humanities. Any student can opt to take any higher-level course they choose to, with only the most minimal restrictions such as "you must take algebra 2 before entering AP Physics or Chemistry". Essentially, if you want to take a bunch of advanced classes, you will. In junior year alone, I took enough AP courses (and did well enough on the exams) that I tested out of a full semester of school at University of Hartford, and it's not like I was at the top of my class, either: I was ranked thirtieth at my highest."

"In my four years here, I haven't witnessed or heard of even one instance of in-school discriminatory (i.e. based off of race, orientation, etc.) bullying, and only by being very close with the GSA president have I heard of a small handful of out-of-school cases of homophobic bullying. This homophobic bullying was always online, perpetrated by one or two individuals, and relatively easily blocked/ignored. If any of the bullies tried saying any of the things they said online in school, they'd have been ostracized and probably beaten up. Speaking of getting beaten up, the only physical fight I've ever heard or seen was near the exit of the school one day. It was a few kids who seemed to actually have absolutely nothing better to do. From what I gathered as I stood around watching, amazed by the stupidity, they had organized a mini-fight club, and were taking turns fighting each other for fun. So, when administration came by to break it up about two minutes later (no one said anything earlier because it was admittedly entertaining to watch), all they really had to do was ask them to stop, and since they seemed to get that none of the kids had malicious intent, no one was punished."

"A majority of the teachers would probably be considered relatively ordinary high school teachers. Of course, the teachers in charge of honors/AP courses tend to be better than CP teachers, but this is probably the case everywhere. Some teachers are stricter than others, but every teacher I've had throughout my entire high school career has been willing to stay after at least once a week for struggling students. Overall, I would say there is no "bad" teacher at the school. The only real complaints I've heard about teachers have all been directed towards long-term substitutes who were hired due to unexpected teacher medical leave."

"The students complain often, but that's how it is at every school. What makes this school different from the others is that we were given a lot of freedom. Unlike some other schools, you can be a part of as many clubs as you want (of course, you have to exercise common sense in this; you'll still have homework to do) and there are no prerequisites whatsoever to taking AP courses. Some might argue that this makes the atmosphere in AP classes less "advanced" or "intelligent", but I believe that it just made it more feasible for students to pursue multiple interests at once: you don't have to be a "math geek" to take AP Calculus, you just need to be willing to put in the effort. I took a total of six AP classes, and, based solely off of the three whose exam scores I've received (Chemistry, World History, Language and Comp.) I am exempt from taking four classes (two of which are chemistry-related). That's one class short of an entire semester at the college I'm going to, and I'm willing to bet that I'll test out of at least one more class once I get the next three back."

"The teachers teach in a way that makes the lesson easy to understand, and they will talk to you and help you if you need it."
