"I am a current student at SCMS and i hate it. All we do is write, write, and write. We do not learn much and the school overall is horrible. There is a serious mold problem that they think they "fixed". The food is horrible... Sometimes its under cooked. The studentsare horrible and misbehaving and the teachers take no action on anything. South charleston middle school has been nothing but horrible to me."

"South Charleston Middle School is a terrible school unless you're just going here for sports. In 5 days I start 8th grade, and I'm not very excited considering my past two years here. The principal, Mr. Graves is only interested in sports and doesn't seem to care about most of the students. The staff are too nice and don't discipline the children who misbehave. The food is terrible and many children (including myself) don't eat lunch or breakfast because its unedible. A lot of teachers favorite the richer, more athletic children *cough* Mr. Samuel *cough* and ignore the rest. Some of the teachers really love what they do and are great at it (Ms. Literal 7th grade English and Mrs. Norman 7th grade math.) There is a lot of bullying and the teachers dont seem to mind, they pass out pamphlets and teach about it but take no action when they see it. In conclusion, if you send your child here, make sure they do their homework because the teachers don't care if they do or not, pack their lunch if you want them to eat, and if they say they're getting bullied or saying they want to transfer, let them! It won't get better, I promise. I've been here 2 years so far and it's tolerable, but bad."

"My school was terrible. I was there from 6-8th grade, and I'm going to South Charleston High now. This school is physically, and also academically crumbling. It was built over 80 years ago and is in dire need of crucial updates. Although some teachers truly wanted the best for their students, there were some that were completely unacceptable. One year, we had a teacher who did not teach at all, she only surfed The same year, a teacher was hired that failed all of her students in the first nine weeks because she refused to grade the papers. On the physical side, there is evidence of mold spores, water damage, and cracked plaster. I personally feel that this school is on the verge of becoming inoperable. If you are considering sending your child to this school, DON'T. Most of the money is invested into the 6th grade to make it seem like a better school. Once your child hits 7th grade, the reality will hit. Usually, it's too late for them to leave because they want to stay with friends. If I could relive my middle school experience, I would most certainly not serve it at South Charleston Middle School."

"I am so sorry to hear how you feel. I know for a fact that there ARE teachers who care about what they do and how the kids feel because I, for one, do care! I work hard everyday to have lessons that I hope kids will like, but that also causes them to THINK about what they are doing. As a teacher it is very upsetting to care about teaching while having students who are not willing to do what is expected. I hope you are not one of them. No matter where you go, there will always be problems, just trade one for another when you transfer. As long as you are doing the right thing, you'll always land on your feet academically. I hope things get better for one. Find a teacher you can talk to about this,...there are caring teachers!"
