"Both the town and school district are run poorly by political insiders. When the 3 school district lost 25% of their enrollment that's expected to reach 30% they doubled the classrooms at the H.S. with a $20 million triple addition plus added the less than 1/2 full Granville Village school. With this fiscal mismanagement and a School Committee that chose size over quality they have many financial problems and no money for top notch programs or equipment. They are on their 4th Vice Principle in 3 years at the H.S. and the middle school one just left after 13 years. Well liked teachers disappear without a trace, taxes have gone through the roof and there are so few students expected at the enlarged H.S. they may need inline skates to get around. Take my advice. Run, run as fast as you can away from Southwick and it's school district."

"As a student going through the schools now, I am experiencing the many changes the School is undergoing. The school is going in the right direction. There are many new ways that the school is not just encouraging the students to do well, but actually making them want to do well. With the accreditation process that is occurring, teachers are not just teaching what their told, but are making an effort to help the kids. The kids not only learn the topics, but are helped to grow as a student and a person. I am very happy with how the school is improving, and I hope they keep going on the right track."

"The school has gone through a lot of changes in the past couple of years. New administration and many excited new teachers have brought about positive growth. It is still a small school and may not offer the variety of options that a larger school can provide."

"I am a member of the class of 2008, and I am a junior currently. There are the good points of southwick schools, but honestly I do not like here at all. I sleep through all my accel classes and I have mostly straight A's. There are defintly some problems in the admistration, and there problems among the school that the admistration does not address and when students and parents try to get them to address they don't. Our sport teams are pretty good at least."

"Raising a second child going through Powder Mill Middle School is stressful. I Who's watching the cookie jar in this school? Let's wait until high school for the note taking and give our child the books and resources they deserve to do well!"
