"Academics are outstanding at ESHSS. There are so many different courses available to students. A variety of levels (13 APs offered, tons of honors and basic classes) allow the school to be flexible with what pace each student learns. The core curriculum makes complete sense with the requirements to graduate, and they're easy to fulfill. The scheduling process can be slightly confusing at first as a freshman, but after that it gets so simple and easy, the guidance counselors make it so understandable and they are literally there to help you every step of the way in scheduling. Workload depends on the classes you take. AP classes will obviously have a much heavier workload than honors or basic classes. One of the most popular classes (many of them are core classes, just some have popular teachers) is sociology... literally take this class, it is the most entertaining and engaging class you may ever take at South."

"Most of the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive people. Aside from a few notorious ones, a lot of them genuinely care about their students. Both core and elective classes can be very engaging when you get a good/experienced teacher. Teachers are super supportive and if you ask for help, they will try their best to help you succeed. The majority of teachers I've had are pretty good with communication and will reply quickly to emails. Also, many of them incorporate technology for classroom materials like making information available on google classroom, google drive, or using the RemindApp for hw/test reminders. Consistency with grading is hard to gauge, because some teachers are known for being easy graders and others really make you work hard to earn an A; though this difference really occurs between AP to honors to basic/elective classes. Overall, I think ESHSS has a great body of teachers."

"My overall experience at ESHSS has been truly fantastic. Compared to other schools around our area, South is an amazing school when it comes to the resources available at the school (academics & support), the overall diversity & attitude of students, the quality of teachers, and the variety of extra-curriculars like sports and clubs. Students have a huge range of core classes (at AP, Honors, or Basic levels) and elective (Honors or normal) courses to choose from. Technology and resources (like admins/guidance) are also outstanding. In recent years, the "Cav Crazies" student section has multiplied in size and students love going to tons of different athletic & nonathletic events. There's a diversity of students here, and the majority of the student body are truly good people. I would definitely choose South again if I could do it all over."

"Social scene isn't too bad at South. Student involvement is outstanding, the people love participating in extracurriculars and activities they enjoy. The student body is very diverse, so student involvement is also a nice mix of different people. Peer pressure is not very prominent, people are pretty chill with letting others do as they please. Acceptance at the school, a pretty diverse school, is pretty great; I've had students in my classes of different cultures/religions/sexual orientations and everyone accepts them and interacts with them the same way as any other student."
