"Howe School has been exactly what our son needed. This is his second year - he will graduate in the spring - but we cannot say enough good things about the school. The structure and high expectations were something he adjusted to pretty quickly, and we saw a surprising rise in his grades as well as a slowly growing maturity throughout that first year. The ability to play sports again was so good for him (he never made the cut in tryouts back home and therefore missed out on all the good things that come with being on a team). Most importantly, he learned to respect others and respect himself. We struggled so so hard with the initial decision of whether or not he should go to a boarding school - - there were so many unknowns - - but he probably would not be graduating this year if we hadn't taken this bold step. He was headed in the wrong direction, and he just plain had to be removed from the situation he was in. The staff and teachers at Howe are absolutely invested in these kids. Visit the school if you can. The buildings aren't new, but the history and tradition are impressive, and a lot of lives have been changed there."

"The Howe School was a great place for me to send my son! The hardest part about having him attend Howe, was the fact that he thought it was out of hatred. He didn't realize it until graduation that attending Howe was all out of Love. I'm paraphrasing, but he said to me "I thought Howe was like a boot camp with chain linked fences on our way to take a campus tour. I remember me telling you I hated you and what not, but I have to say it was the best thing that ever happened." Granted, I wasn't always happy but all around, The Howe School changed my sons life!"

"An excellent Boarding School, one of the Best that the state of Indiana has in my opinion. I will be attending Howe next semester. I have visited there multiple times and I have learned more about it each time I visited. Howe is NOT A REFORM OR A SCHOOL FOR TROUBLED KIDS. HOWEVER, HOWE IS A SCHOOL THAT TEACHES KIDS HOW TO SURVIVE IN A COLLEGE ENVIRONMENT. HOWE IS A COLLEGE PREP SCHOOL THAT USES THE JROTC PROGRAM TO TURN OUT KIDS THAT ARE POLITE AND VERY MOTIVATED (BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND PHYSICALLY) . Howe is also NOT A BOOT CAMP."

"I attended Howe for 2 1/2 years. Growing up in the public school system, most of my experience was pleasant; however, I had been struggling with family life at home and became unmotivated and depressed. My stepfather didn't like me and did pretty much everything he could to make my life miserable. He gave me an ultimatum of being in a juvenile delinquent home (even though I was far from a juvenile delinquent) or going to military school. I happily chose Howe and after the tour and the entrance exam, I started my journey there. When I entered Howe, I had a 1.7 GPA. When I left Howe, I was a couple points short of a 3.0. My first year was rocky and when I got to my senior year, I had between a 4.0 and a 4.5 every 6 weeks. Howegave me direction as I was able to do all the sports I wanted, the extra-curricular activities, worked out, forged irreplaceable friendships, and even felt a sense of leadership that I hadn't had before. The teachers keep up with your class work, it can be a pain but it is for your benefit. The drama is a little more than public school, but that is to be expected when you live with people. Howe is a great place to push any student wanting to reform their life."

"I would highly recommend this school if your son/daughter gets overlooked due to the fact they are well behaved. Previous schools always commented that my son was great to have in class, said he was doing fine and would then run him through with a "D". Within weeks after attending the Howe School he is achieving and maintaining a 3.6 gpa. On one visit, we entered the cafeteria during lunch hour, the room was crowded and we were having trouble finding our son, but within seconds two cadets stopped eating, approached us to see who we were looking for, then immediately sought out and directed our son to our location. Rarely do you find that kind of respect AND action in our society, let alone from a teenager in his own setting. Their Leadership training is among the Best I have seen. The staff has addressed every concern or question we have asked. My sons grades, self confidence and maturity speak volumes for the time proven system they have in place there. No school is perfect, but at the Howe School, they are as close as I have seen."
