    "My daughter was at Highlands Elementary from K to 5. She went from being an average student who struggled with reading to an above average honor roll student with a middle school reading level. The school has a spectacular reading program for struggling readers, and also makes an effort not to teach only for high test scores. The TAKS info is integrated into regular lesson plans instead of the kids just spending the year doing TAKS practice tests. It is reflected in the schools high test scores which are well above state average, and also makes school more varied and exciting for students."

    "Highlands is a good school that prepares students for Texas tests. For students that may have behavior problems or deficient grades, Highlands will focus on them and give extra attention. For students that are average, no motivation is given to excel."

    "Highlands Elementary has dedicated teachers and principals that care about children. My son, a special education student with minor learning disabilities was treated with kindness and patience.Teachers were always willing to work with us and do what was best for our son."

    "The teachers at this school are wonderful! The special education staff is completely dedicated to improving the educational performance of all of their students. They work with each student, challenging them just enough to show improvements on a steady basis. They support each student to the fullest extent possible in the regular education environment as well. I cannot say enough about the great teachers at this school."
