"For the PARENTS BELOW who are in Support of the UNIFORM POLICY, do you also support OBAMACARE??? WHY NOT??? you have no problem with UNIFORMS Being FORCED on your kids and them not having a CHOICE so why would it be any different for you?? Yes the teachers do have a lot on their plates and ALL are overworked and Underpaid. But the DRESS CODE Violaters do not take away as much time as you all are led to believe and frankly If the OFFICE and those paid in the 6 figures would put as much passion into ENFORCING The CURRENT DRESS Code as they do in FORCING A UNIFORM, there would be no complaints.!!!! Lastly, If the UNIFORM POLICY Included DENIM and was not so strict and VOTED ON BY THE PARENTS like yourselves and the rest of us, this whole issue would be a MUTE POINT. But these are HIGH SCHOOL KIDS Being treated like Pre-schoolers and also having their constitutional rights stripped away by the EDUCATORS who's job is to EDUCATE and the parents (SHAME ON YOU) who are willing to sacrifice their kids, but when the table is turned and issues are forced on them like OBAMACARE, than they have an issue. You can't have it both ways!!! Shame on you!!!!!"

"I am a 17 year old student, currently attending Lake Gibson High School. I moved here in February, from Illinois. Although my time here has been brief, I have come across a lot of particular compaints. Coming from a town as small as where I'm from, to a big city like Lakeland, where I've been in the school for months and the teachers don't know my name, let alone others names, it gets disappointing. I never realized how hard my school pushed us until I got down here. A parent could walk in and be disappointed with the education children are getting. The teachers allow students to walk over them, cursing at them, not doing assignments, and being disrespectful. I have to contain myself from letting my jaw hit the floor. What baffles me the most is that the teacher will tell us to prepare for the day's lesson, and a few students complain, (back to the disrespect) the teacher will put in a movie. I'm talking movies as, "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" I hope as you read this, you keep in mind I am a student, noticing these awful happenings. I realize that my peers and I need to take responsibility and do the things that will help ourselves, our communities, and our futures."

"The new uniform policy is what EVERY school needs! In my opinion, there are more pros than there are cons. I agree that the NUMBER ONE priority in schools, should be safety first and can only hope that every parent would want the same for their child. Uniforms not only make it easier for authority to spot someone who does not belong, but allows the major focus to remain on education, not designer name brands and the current fashion trends. By fixing this every day issue, we can allow teachers focus on what they are hired to do: teach! Students go to school to learn, not to make a fashion statement. This school is concerned about safety and a sense of community for all students and this is exactly how they should be!!!"

"I would like to express my support for the new uniform policy at Lake Gibson High. Do my daughters agree with this new policy? No, but teenagers don't agree with a lot of the rules in the real world and that is why they have parents! They do agree that daily dress code violations are disruptive, distracting & occasionally disturbing. Teachers & staff should not have to waste class time policing some of the outfits I've seen at school. Parents who allow their children to attend high school in flagrant violation of the dress code are simply delegating one more job to our already overburdened public education system. Students have plenty of non-school time to express themselves in whatever way they want and to what level of skin exposure their parents can tolerate (or are aware of). Private schools such as Santa Fe and Lakeland Christian enforce similar uniform policies. We should expect no less in the public sector. The school has their hands full, juggling reduced funding, increased test score scrutiny and high public expectations and the very last thing they should have to worry about is some misguided student's exposed cleavage, torn and shredded jeans or booty shorts."

"The new principal has destroyed everything the last principal built up. Student morale is down due to having senior privileges taken away and the sneaky underhanded way the uniforms are trying to be passed by this new principal without the consent of the taxpaying parents. She is doing away with regular classes next year and placing the children in either remedial or AP classes. Students are left feeling unheard leading to higher aggression and less respect. Lock downs are nearly a weekly event. Lake Gibson is not the school it once was. Some of the really good teachers have been forced out of the school. Thank you new Principal for destroying what was once a great school. We are pulling our children out."
