"My son is a senior this year. He is very outgoing and popular. The amount of sex, drugs and alcohol going on in school is appalling. Right under the noses of teacher who are either complacent or ignorant and administration who act as if it's not the priority. Blatant, rampant racism and bullying has become the norm in school. Thank God my son is strong, but the ones who are not are dropping out rapidly. There are much better schools around where this behavior is not tolerated. Tarpon is like it's own planet. So much is acceptable there than any other school."

"I was at Tarpon from 02-06 and this is the best school in Pinellas County. I have to admit that some of the teachers are way too focused on FCAT scores than actually teaching anything else, overall the school is great! I was in marching band while I was there and have been blessed with some of the most amazing experiences of my life while in the band. I would certainly recommend this school."

"Tarpon Springs Vet program was once a great program. The program is very disorganized under the new leadership. Teachers seem very unprepared and lack direction. When all else fails, animated movies are shown, Madagascar, I guess this movie pertains to the vet program it contains animals, to the kids to take place of actual teaching. If the teacher is out handouts are thrown at the kids. There is not a certified substitute to step in if the actual instructor is out. The vice principal that oversees the Vet program is clueless on what goes on. Scheduled a meeting with her and she asked me why I was there even though I explained the subject matter in my original call . When asked how many seniors certify each year, she has no idea. This could be a great program if the instructors were actually excited about the field they were teaching. As far as magnet programs are concerned, this one deserves a thumbs down. Talk to other Vet parents before signing on in this program. Make sure you child shadows this program. The drop out rate in this program is very high due to the frustration of the students with the current staff of instructors. ."

"The fact that this site claims PHU is better than Tarpon is a joke. I experienced both and can tell you from experience that Tarpon is a wonderful school. I had so many teachers and admin that cared about how i was doing. The school has so much spirit whereas PHU i just felt like a number. I really enjoyed my time there. Also, not many drugs go through tarpon unlike palm harbor. I really recommend this school. I experienced some of my best years there."
