"This school is probably one of the worst, there are so many reasons why and no room here to list them. I have one child currently attending and one child that attended about 10 years ago. The best thing the Mobile county school board can do for the children who have to attend this place is either commence to handing out pink slips starting at the top or just shut the doors all together. My children still managed to excell in school in spite of Hankins Middle School but trust me it is only because of who they are as young people not because of anything Hankins has done. If you can manage to send your child somewhere else then you really should. And a word of advice for the school board, you may want to give some serious consideration to hiring a ex Marine or military commander of some type to run Hankins, the school is in desperate need of real leadership."

"My children have attended HMS and I have been very happy. They are learning and are having fun at the same time. The 25 book program is great. My children are talking about books!"

"I happen to go to hankins and i cheer at this school i have to say i love to go to school and some of the teachers do pick students to do things for them (the same ones) and thats fine . if you hang out with the right people you want be in the wrong."

"I am currently a student at Hankins Middle School. I think that the administration cares to much about what you wear and the way you dress than the way you learn and succeed in school. They care too much about what going on outside of the classrooms and not what's going on in the classrooms. They are having teachers pulled out of the class rooms just to go to some Making Middle Schools Work Meetings. I mean if they actually want the middle schools work then they should stop taking teachers out of class just to go to some meeting, while they could be teaching their students. And when they do go to those meeting they're not teaching the students. Therefore the students aren't learning anything."
