"This is a great up and coming school in North Jeffco. I think their IB program has really started to change the school even for kids who do not take IB. Most of the teachers seem really motivated and make an effort to engage the kids. I know these comment sections often attract the disenchanted but I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I was recently told that last year they even sent a kid to Stanford as well as Yale, but there are also a lot of nice regular kids as well, which is what I have experienced myself."

"Im a sophomore here. The homework is tedious and many teachers just assign things at the very end of class leaving you with a mountain of homework. It really is a good social environment. Sure there are plenty of prejudice but that is just high school in general. Ive ended up grouped with the nerds, hipsters, emos, and outcasts in Mr. Satters computer room. I would say that this place is not so bad. But there is plenty they can do to improve it like a better curriculum to engage the students. I hope this helps. Your kid better be able to handle a lot of mundane homework."

"Alright, so I don't have a very great plan for when I graduate. I plan to go into the marines right after graduation in fact, not to college. And I don't know if I want to go to college. But somehow I wound up in all AP classes with my teachers planning to put me into IB. Ok, but here is the thing. I do all my work last minute and rush it barely giving myself any time. So either I do a really good job, or they are just filling seats in on their stupid prep college club. This also worries me because teachers don't teach anything in their classes, and I have AP. So shouldn't I be learning advanced curriculum items? Most of them just teach really short topics then get off track with the class. I don't think I have learned anything since I walked through those doors. Just re did math and science I did in Middle School. The students themselves in my class all strive for F's. Who got the lower score seems to be a better focusing point than the teachers. I also do have a lot of friends with different sexuality preferences (lesbian gay bisexual) and they all say that they get picked on and the teachers don't care. I'd have to say that this school may have pride but all it is, is empty air."

"I've graduated last year (2013) and have been there for all 4 years. There are actually good teachers, especially the science department and social studies. There are a handful of great English teachers while others lack, and the math teachers... lets not start. Textbooks are out of date, the administrators are awful, and the school is always trashed. The community is great and the student body is awesome, but I guess I was one of the "popular kids". I honestly didn't see much bullying, but if there was nothing would happen. Unless you play a specific sport nobody will go to your games (I was a soccer player and nobody went). Drugs are pretty easy to obtain. If you surround yourself with good people, have great teachers and participate in some activities you will have fun I promise. I wish I could go back for one more year, but that's because I miss my friends. The school feels more like a social environment rather than educational. I doubt the administrators care what we have to say, until CSAP comes there's no education. I'm proud to be a gator and always will. The administration needs to wake up and help SLHS it. It can really turn out to be a great school ~Class of 2013 student"

"As a student for a few years at Standley Lake HS, this school has been nothing but horrible. The teachers will teach you everything you need to know for the homework assignment that night, and then dump hours worth of homework on students and make it due the following day. Teachers don't care about students, or education, and most of the teachers I've had, pick favorites and it shows. Bullying is a great problem at this school, and if unless you're popular or a teacher's pet, nobody will do anything to stop it, even if it happens right in front of them. Students are rude, and they will harass you constantly if you don't have as high of a social status as they do. Teachers and administrators will yell at you for simple things, while others they will do nothing. (i.e; I wore a bandana in my hair and got dress coded, but girls where tiny shorts all of the time and don't get talked to about it). The education the school is supposed to provide is poor. The text books are not updated, and most are over 10 years old and falling apart. This school doesn't value education or the well being of students at all. I do not recommend this school for anybody. Choose somewhere else."
