"John Bowne is just like any ordinary NYC public school. There is a fantastic agriculture program, but all the programs are sub par due to lack of funding/student drive. A lot of the students don't really care and that says a lot about the public education system in NYC as a whole rather than the school itself. A lot of the teachers are passionate about their students and what they do, but the majority of the students make it hard for Bowne to rise to a higher standard. Bowne offers a lot of programs and classes and is slowly trying to climb the ranks to become a better school."

"There is more security now, and feels safer. However, hate that they having opening and closing times for bathrooms."

"This school has a lot of potential to be great. If people were to apply themselves more, teachers included, it would be a wonderful learning environment!"

"I am a part of the Academy for Creative Artists program in this school. I have been since Freshmen year. Overall, the school has offered many opportunities for students to come together and socialize and make friends. I am very proud to say that, that is how I met all of my friends in high school, and I plan to be friends with them even after graduation. I consider them family. I love my high school for that reason. Though, I wish the whole ACA program had more respect from other programs in the school. We've had instances where the ROTC program or Chinese Club, or Agriculture Program's needs were put in front of ours, which caused some students, including myself to feel unappreciated by the school."

"Being part of John Bowne HS has been pretty awesome. Being in high division sports developed me as a great athlete. All coaches from the teams really care about the students. This school offers a variety of extracurricular activities that allowed me to express my leadership skills. Being part of the STEM program exposed me to really hardcore courses that challenged myself. It upsets me that non-seniors are not willing to participate that much in school activities anymore. There's lack of spirit in the school. I really hope when we, the seniors graduate, all the other students staying step it up and run the school. This school itself is not bad. In fact, it's one of the best schools in Queens. Bowne is underrated and I am more than sure that Bowne is way better than those overrated schools we have around. I'm glad I'm graduating, although I'll miss all memories I made in this school."
