"They really care about their students, often personally as well as academically, and they go the extra mile to help them all learn and meet their academic requirements, as well as to learn about themselves, other people and the world around them, and enjoy the process."

"The teachers are very helpful and really care about, and go the extra mile for their students. The curriculum involves everything from math and sciences to things like personal reflection, at least in the middle school, and it is not structured like a traditional classroom. The teachers will give lessons, and offer halo when it is needed, but the students are also expected to seek help from and help one another, and they are all given lists of assignments they need to complete for that week and expected to finish them either in the work time provided in class, or at home. The workload is not too heavy, particularly with homework. If a student keeps on top of things, they may end up with no homework at all, at least for a time."

"Teachers there really cared about their students, and, on the whole, the students cared about one another. We learned valuable life virtues and values, and had many unique experiences. I loved this personal, moral aspect of my education here. Responsibility was not just a word printed on a wall so the school could appear compassionate. We were taught it, shown it, and expected to live it. Respect was not a class rule. It was treated as the intrinsic moral value that it is, and we learned it as it is real and natural, and were expected to always show, and mean it. I feel like the values and ways of thinking we were taught here, and my personal experience, has deeply impacted who I am as a person. However, there was not much of a focus on academics, or results at this school. The importance of my results was never really impressed upon me beyond missing a recess or event if a certain requirement was not met. Our results were sort of vague. We did not use grades, or GPAs. I never knew where I was in the long run. We seemed sort of isolated, and our system cut off. It didn't connect to what I'd need for high school or college, or why those things were important, and what I needed to do. It did not connect to the outside system."
