"I came to Turtle Lake in 2nd grade. Everyone was so kind and accepting, I never had problems with any of the staff, or students. Turtle Lake has changed a lot over the years from staff, academics, appearance, and even opportunities. The teachers here really want every student to strive and do the best that they can, I have always looked up to my teachers and I truly see myself achieving my goals because of them."

"There are only a few clubs for students and none of them are art or hobby-based."

"In my high school, there is evidence of bullying by teachers and other staff members, cheating is allowed, and there is a general overall lack of quality teaching; in some cases, a lack of teaching at all. I have seen teachers pop in a movie because they would rather sit on their phones or on Facebook, or both, than teach. There were three teachers in my high school whom I actually learned from. THREE. The rest of them simply didn't care, set aside students who needed help, and skated by with a mediocre teaching job. It took nearly three months to read "To Kill A Mockingbird" in my English class while my teacher dragged it out as long as she could. My Chemistry and Psychology teachers would allow students, particularly one, to very consistently turn their work in late (up to a week or two late in Chemistry) while still receiving full credit. Students were hardly ever graded fairly, especially in English and Health classes. Our male gym teacher was caught with a female students sitting on his lap in the dark in his classroom, was in the girls' locker room with many female students in there as well, repeatedly made sexual comments in class, as well as made the male students in health class come up with pick-up lines, many of which were quite inappropriate (which he laughed about and thought were quite hilarious even though blatantly offensive), along with other offenses over the course of two years until finally let go."

"I chose the college route as I had always planned to. I chose to first attend a two-year college, however, to ease into the transition between high school and college life; I did so as my high school did not academically prepare me for the college workload and I wanted to learn to handle it before suddenly being on my own in every aspect. I feel as if I prepared myself for college, teaching myself study skills as I was not really required to have them during high school. I feel prepared, but I do not feel as if my school prepared me. I feel relatively prepared for the real world as my parents gradually gave me more responsibility throughout my senior year and are continuing to do so until I am at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and am on my own."
