"I am a student that goes to Monticello and I think that the school is just fine. Yes, there are some bullies, but what school DOESN'T have bullies? And mostly, people who are getting picked on know how to stand up for themselves. Also, there are many bystanders who help out the people who are being harassed. The teachers are wonderful; some are harsh, but they do a good job with the lessons, and others very kind, but not overwhelmingly so. Overall, I think this school could work a little harder on the bullying issues, but it is a wonderful school."

"I feel that the Math Teachers, should be more creative - traditional methods of teaching do not always have a positive outcome. The main concern is the academic progress - NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE!"

"Monticello is very child orientated! very supportive as our roles as parents, I find that the more involved I become in my children's education and middle school life the more helpful and supportive the staff is with myself and kids. The teachers make time to discuss kids grades, behavior and any other concerns that I have.. there are no problems with communication with the agendas and emails and phone numbers in place for any concerns that I have. One of the things I like about the school is that they encourage leadership skills as well as formal education on basic life skills. I feel truly blessed to have my children in an environment that encourages mental and physical growth of my boys."

"My daughter has attended this school for the past two years and we are looking elsewhere. There is a serious problem with bullying at this school and the administration does not seem to care. My daughter is in the gifted program at the school and she is BORED! Again, I have tried to meet with the administration about this and get no response. There is a LOT of aggression in the school. If you have any alternative to sending your child to Monticello, I urge you to look elsewhere."

"As you should know, this year Monticello's 6th grade had the highest score on their Proficentcy Tests in the district. The teachers really get to know your child and you. If a student needs help, they have Special help everyday after school. I must let you know that the school is 95% African American and 5% white. It doesn't matter because the students treat each other with respect. The teachers do not physically disipline your child, but meet with parents over whatever the situation is. There are occasional fights that break out but over this school year there has only been about 5 big fights. The school has different assmeblies for the kids to learn from but stay interesed in. The principal, Ms. Cavor, will keep you up to date on your childs progress and so will the teachers. This school is very educational and your child can learn a lot!"
