    "I love this school. The principal, teachers, families, and students are by and large not just okay, but wonderful. Sequoia is child-centered, down-to-earth, and low-key; it's proof to me that simple is really good for kids. Children here learn and play. A lot. My kid is friends with all kinds of kids he'd never encounter at other more highly-ranked schools; it is truly diverse in all ways. Teachers here are experienced pros...walking the halls during class time I am always amazed at how attentive and engaged kids are in every room. The community events are fun, old-fashioned, and friendly. It's not a perfect school, but it is pretty close to perfect for my equity-minded, community-oriented family. I'm extremely proud to be part of such a wonderful public school in Oakland."
