"My children spent three years at Westtown before we gave up. Like most bright-eyed and bushy-tailed prospective parents, we were beguiled by the beautiful campus, project-based learning and the promise of a peaceful and caring environment. Well, we got the beautiful campus and some project-based learning but the peaceful and caring part - um, not even close. The teachers and administration do very little to encourage respectful and controlled behavior. And, it is the faculty members (too many burned-out hippies) who are the real issue with the school. Much of the faculty possess a strong sense of entitlement. I happened upon a Westtown employee discussing how horrified she was that people would think to send their children to public schools. Lady, wake up -not everyone has $28K to spend on one child each year! That attitude is pervasive amongst faculty (not as much amongst parents) and very typical of the out-to-lunch bubble in which many of the faulty members seem to exist. Those are not the people I want influencing my children. If you are intent upon raising polite, respectful and peaceful children and having these values reinforced at school, look elsewhere. Please."

"My son was so thoroughly prepared for college. The day we moved him into his freshman dorm room his two roommates were shaking in their boots from nerves. Not my kid. After boarding his final two years at Westtown he was exceedingly prepared to take on living independently at college. It made that transition so much easier for me knowing that he had had a safety net at Westtown to learn to live on his own. The academics are also awesome! My son quickly became known as the Chemistry whiz in his dorm and tutored many students as a result of his experiences at Westtown. The social scene and athletics were also a perfect match for him. He started as a not-so-athletic kid who worked hard with his coaches to earn 6 varsity letters by his graduation. As a lifer at Westtown my son attended pre-K to 12. Westtown was one of the best things to ever happen to him."

"I recently toured Westtown School for elementary level; while the grounds of the school are beautiful, the curriculum is lacking. They have a substantial curriculum integrating reading/language arts throughout other core subjects, but my one child excels at Math. I asked about their math program and I was informed that a specialist was brought in to work with the teachers and gifted students. That did not instill any confidence in me about the quality of their teachers. They needed to bring in a specialist to help their elementary teachers, teach basic math? During our visit, the teachers were stand-offish and cold towards my children. That astounded me, mostly because of the Quaker background; I really thought they would be more warm and welcoming. The diversity they like to claim should really be closely examined. The financial aid students are a few token high school students who come from abroad and the teachers own children (who also, attend Westtown). Furthermore, most of Westtown s teachers and staff are alumni of the Westtown School, which creates a stagnant pool where innovative thinking and true diversity cannot exist."

"Westtown has a unique way of fostering future generations of students through the establishment of a nuturing and tight-knit community. The classroom setting is set up in a way to stimulate intellectual discussions and the teachers engage with students on an individual level that often builds student-mentor relationships as opposed to student-professional relationships at most other schools. Personally, among many things, the welcoming and accepting feeling of the Westtown community was what I loved most about the school. At the end of my time at Westtown, it felt like I had become part of a brotherhood; a second family. If there was one thing to change, however, it would be asking the school and administration to take more initiative with the integration of boarding and day students. Despite attending the same classes and participating on sports teams together, there has always been a division between the boarding and day students. This division does diminish when, and if, students choose to board in 11th and 12th grade but not before. Nonetheless, this small area of concern does not deter my love for the school and the community."

"If I had stayed in Korea instead of going to Westtown School, I would have never set foot on this path I am on today. The Westtown community and everything they taught me revolutionized the way I think. Religion & Social Change and From Hiroshima to 9/11 are both advanced-level classes I took that made me identify my true values. Through individual research papers to group presentations and debates, I gained a lot of knowledge of conflicts around the world and the right set of skill on how to vocalize action to approach them. From helping me have a multicultural and international mindset to expanding my knowledge and set of skills, Westtown taught me how to be a true global citizen."
