"Bailey Middle School used to be a great school. It worked well alongside Carrigan to split up the two parts of West Haven. Now, it is our only choice if we would be in 7th or 8th grade. It doesn't have the same great teachers or their standards as before. Now, Bailey Middle School is mediocre, with only half its greatness as years ago. Kids today that live in West Haven wouldn't have a choice on where to go to if they didn't get into a Magnet School. This, I find to be unfair."

"Unfortunately, if you plan to send your child to public school in West Haven, Bailey Middle School is your only option for 7th and 8th grade if you are not fortunate enough to get your child into a magnet. The principal is abrasive and not an instructional leader. Parents are made to feel like intruders in the school (if you are even allowed in the door). A few really excellent teachers, many mediocre to poor, who seem to believe that presenting and grading is the same thing as teaching. Very much a "sink or swim" mentality among most of the staff- if the student doesn't understand something, that is considered a student deficit rather than a potential teaching problem/dilemma."

"We come from the bronx, and i can't believe how caring and concerned these teachers are at Bailey. Teachers are willing to help students. even if it means to stay afterschool in turtor. What else can you ask for. My daughter was failing and now amazing she is a B+ student. I thought i would never see this. I was also amazed to hear from the PTA welcoming us. It's a good feeling. From the nurse to administration in personnel they're helpful."
