"It is my personal belief that without parental support no school can succeed. Parent involvement is a huge problem in Long Branch School District. That said, Anastasia provides some of the absolute best teachers I have ever encountered and my children have attended 5 of the schools in Long Branch, (due to different magnets, interests and ages) giving our family a broad view of the educational system in this city. Mr. Heptig, Mrs. Merrill, Ms. Trammel and Ms. Frank are only a few of the amazing educators we are lucky enough to have. My child found Anastasia to be rich in opportunity and the Talented program is unparallelled in its teaching of the arts. As for the 'review' with all the stats, I thought this was a review opportunity for parents/teachers/principals, NOT for the Long Branch Board of Ed to attempt to deflect negative commentary with their mind-boggling 'test results PSA'."

"That review sounds like a promotional ad, the truth is I and other parents that I speak with consider Anastasia School to second to last. LBMS is definitely the worst. However, Anastasia should take a look at how MR. Salvatore runs Gregory School because unfortunately Anastasia School is lacking in curriculum, saftey issues, organization and in providing a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Having no walls doesn't help the chaos that occurs daily within this school. I personally with at least five other parents I know had to pull my child from this school. Thank goodness for West End!"

"The Long Branch Public Schools have done a magnificent job of raising student performance as a result of Whole School Reform. Long Branch is one of 30 at-risk 'Abbott' districts in the state of New Jersey. The success story in Long Branch begins at the elementary level as documented by student achievement in the state assessments. Facts, not opinion: In the spring of 1999, prior to the implementation of the Whole School Reform model Success for All, 33.9% of Long Branch general ed. (not incl. Sp. Ed. & LEP) 4th graders passed the ESPA Language Arts Literacy subtest. In just three years, by the 2002 ESPA administration, 71.2% of the 4th graders passed this test, an increase of 38.3%. Long Branch narrowed the gap to the state average by 13.7% in that time. The math passing rate increased from 35.9% to 55.5% in those years. See Department of Education website."
