"Like any school, there are some good teachers here and some that have absolutely no business being at a school like this. The students that attend Suncoast are the cream of the crop in the county. They are quite smart and work extremely hard for their success. There are teachers here that are like stumbling blocks to success, such as in the Language Department. When the students who come to Suncoast dream of being Engineers or Computer Science mavericks, why is it one of the biggest problems they will encounter at this school is the Language Department? There are certain teachers who are so incredibly bad, the students suffer. The school is quite aware of who these teachers are, yet they allow these people to remain in place and deal with the students who are in no way dreaming of becoming language majors. I have no doubt that there are students or parents who can go through four years here with no issues. Whether there is one issue or none, no one who comes to this school should have a bad experience because of ill qualified teachers or some administrators who, honestly, treat students with what seems like disdain. My family went to several open houses before attending here. The principal couldn't say enough or be friendly enough at the open houses. Once you're a student there, she would say (with a not so nice attitude), "you picked us, we didn't pick you". Do they think this is a strategy to somehow bring out more of the best in the students? Some administrators treat the students like absolute garbage, the way they are talked to or the way they are considered. This place tend to go out of its way to make things much more difficult than they need to be. Again, the students that attend this school are considered to be the best students in the county. It's a shame that some administrators or some teachers do not seem to appreciate where they get to spend their days. Maybe they would be better off being at a D or F rated school."

"This school is stress city. With ample amounts of work load, continuous days with little sleep in between, and the stress of reaching the expectation placed above your head, this school is not for everybody. And even though a lot of students talk smack about the school, the majority of us would repeat over if we could. This school is a magnet school focused around an IB department, a MSE department, an IIT department, and a CS department. For the kids who strive to be the top of the class, MSE is recommended; for those students who would like to attend a great highschool but with less stress, the IIT department is recommended (Just because you are in IIT does not make you stupid or lazy. It may be the smartest route to take. Less stress and more time to enjoy highschool.). The administration is amazing aside from a few bad apples; with people like Ms. Hartley (AP) who are absolutely sweethearts to people like Mrs. Mitchell (Student Services) who gets things done. Getting things done through the school make take some time and energy but at the end of the day its worth it. The school is supremely safe, even during code reds (caused by the "ghetto" neighborhood we reside in) you feel absolutely safe. There are rarely ever fights, little to no drug use or alcohol use on campus. There are some cheating that happens but that's the worst of the mischievous. Lost items are always returned, never stolen. Although, I feel the school is a little lackluster with their money, considering all the donations they get; they still throw some amazing school oriented experiences. For example, prom (which costs the school $40,000-$50,000 to put on) is one of the cheapest in the county being only $45. They used to have a spring carnival to celebrate the success of their students and they hold parades, and pie day (lots and lots of pie), and overall try to influence students happiness and success. If I could give some advice, the hard work is worth it in the long run."
