"Im not happy with the school. My problem is more with teachers. My child's 8th grade math teacher is never willing to help or explain more on a question my child my have. Its been a repetitive problem. My other child has had problems with the band teacher and P.E teacher. when you talk to the teacher they are very disrespectful and not willing to help work with the parents or child. I do like the VP and front desk..they are helpful. Also the Car Loop needs to be managed better..."

"I must agree with the poor reviews rather than those that extol the school's virtues. The office staff is unpleasant--even when signing students in after an appointment the secretary could not manage a "good morning" or a smile. The high test scores have more to do with the wealthy student population than the instructional quality, which seems mediocre at best and driven largely by worksheet-based test preparation. To the teacher reviewer who said you get out what you put in...I have never received a response to e-mails or calls from the teachers I have attempted to contact. The principal supports his teachers at all costs, even at the cost of dismissing parent concerns. Perhaps the school is adequate, but it is definitely not user friendly."

"I am a teacher at Skyview Middle School and, naturally, will stick up for our school at all costs. Many of us spend countless hours helping students with all kinds of things, not just academic-based things. We stay after school to help tutor (at no charge), sometimes helping kids with subjects other than what we teach. I could complain about lack of funding and I could go on and on about being overworked and underpaid, but the truth is, I LOVE my job and I LOVE these kids. Kids are what keep me coming back, day after day. I can't think of another school I would rather be at than Skyview Middle. Like anything else in life, you get out of things exactly what you put in. If you give no effort in helping your child obtain a quality education, then you shouldn't complain. The grass is not always greener on the other side!!!!"

"I give Sky View a big thumbs down due to all the rude comments and language my daughter has told me about. moving to Pwms was a good move now that they have the IB program that Sky View does NOT have and should be recommended for any child."

"Overall this is a good school. Like most schools, they are dealing with a funding shortfall. District 70 doesn't provide enough resources to teach the kids. The school has shifted teachers and classes again for the second year to deal with the funding and FOUR day school week. The administration is certainly playing a balancing act to hold it together. This year, they finally added advanced courses in science and language arts to add to the advanced math taught for a few years. The homework is bit excessive, but it will prepare the kids for high school AP classes. The teacher quality is a 9 out of 10, but they are really overworked and you have to stay involved in your own students work. The band program is really lacking, but the new music teacher is trying rebuild with no funding. There has only been one teacher (math) in the three years my child has been going to Skyview that has lost her heart to teach. She was very impatient, rigid and not very approachable even as a parent. The principal runs a tight ship and he demands respect from the students. The Great Schools score of 6 doesn't represent the good quality education and positive learning environment at Skyview."
