"Each teacher truly takes the time to get to know you, your strengths, and your weaknesses. They are helpful, attentive, and responsive. The fact that they are all experienced and care about the subjects they teach is apparent in the classroom."

"I love the independence I have here. The teachers are there to guide you, but everything is truly centered around the students. Graduating with an associate's degree is truly rewarding!"

"Bard High School Early College is both a high school and a college in one. Ninth and tenth grades are all four years of high school, and eleventh and twelfth grades are the first two years of college. I graduated in 2014 and just finished my sophomore year at Binghamton University. Bard really prepared me for college. Firstly, I entered college with 63 credits, which allowed me to focus my studies on subjects that genuinely interested me. Secondly, the classes at Bard were college-level classes, which granted me a smooth transition into actual college classes at a university. The teachers at Bard are incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the classes that they teach. They communicate complex ideas clearly, and make sure that every student has an understanding of the subject."

"The teachers at Bard High School Early College genuinely care about each and every student. Whenever a teacher is not teaching a class, he/she holds office hours so that students may come if they need help or have any questions. Every teacher makes an effort to know everyone in the class, and to grasp each student's level of understanding of the topics. Questions and class discussion are always encouraged in class. Some classes are entirely student discussion about the topics. Each teacher's teaching style is different -- some teachers incorporate technology and show videos or a powerpoint, and some use the whiteboard and books. In general, all of the teachers demonstrate knowledge of the subject, and communicate challenging concepts in a way that is understandable for the students. Each teacher also has their own grading techniques. The grading criteria are clearly indicated in the syllabus that we receive at the beginning of each semester, so we know exactly what is being factored into our grades."

"The school is designed to prepare us for college and I think they do a good job at that. I know my high school experience is very different from the average high school student in New York, even the country and sometimes I wish the work load was lighter but I know this is how college is going to be. The teachers expect so much more from student once they enter the college program which can be a little difficult because the transition into the program isn't so smooth, but other than that the school is great academically."
