"I feel that magnet prepared me fully for college. Not only did it prepare me academically, but also socially in the sense that I began high school with a completely new group of people, the same that I will be doing next year in college."

"Union County Magnet High School is one of the most prestigious high school across the nation. With its diversity and family-knit student population, each student is driven to succeed and change the world. Our world-renowned staff advocates success in each person and expresses a passion for teaching. We challenge ourselves in rigorous courses in order to have a strong foundation for our education career."

"Culturally speaking, Magnet is a fairly competitive school: students tend to expect to get high grades and are distraught with low ones. Though there are no sports at school, students can participate in sports at their home high school districts if they so choose, and the amount of extracurriculars on campus--from the successful FIRST Robotics team to the always-active Drama Club--are enough to keep everyone engaged. Magnet, an engineering school, has classes specific to STEM majors that are not particularly useful outside of engineering disciplines; the likelihood of one using AutoCAD--computer software used for CAD--outside of an architectural occupation is unlikely, after all. For people interesting in engineering, it's a wonderful experience: the new Makerspace facilities opened up recently (a high-tech shop) and are open to all , and the new electives now available, such as Aerospace and Electrical, allow one to customize the experience to one's interests."

"Currently a high school senior. Many classes are taught by students who have already taught in the field. Although the courses are challenging, there is an excellent support system among classmates. Since admissions is test-based, the students are all highly-motivated and will push you to be your best. We are ranked #4 in Newsweek (2016) and the high school definitely prepares you for life beyond high school. The renovation of the multimedia center into a Makerspace, with 3-D printers, a laser cutter, a CNC mill, and a CNC lathe, is extremely exciting and will breathe new life into the school."

"The academics are pretty good. We have core curriculum requirements but they aren't the worst, especially if you're interested in engineering. We could have a few more options for classes, because most classes tend to be focused on math, science, or technology."
