"While some teachers at Guyer go above and beyond to help students and ensure classroom success, some teachers (and, honestly, especially the coach-teachers) are only there to collect a paycheck. There are some teachers that do everything they can to make themselves available, maintain an engaging class, and stay on top of their work- but others steadily and incessantly do the bare minimum, scrape by, and seriously impair the ability of students to do any learning. Funding gets funneled all but directly into the football fund, and if not the football fund then some other athletic program. The arts programs suffer and are not even remotely taken seriously. I've watched teachers try to get student to student tutoring programs off the ground for years to no avail, but I think our football team got new jerseys the past several years in a row, so nobody cares. There are genuinely good people on the faculty and staff of Guyer High School- forward-thinking, innovative teachers who's goal is to maintain teaching an up-to-date, engaging class to a group of kids completely infatuated with social media and technology. It's hard to make a difference these days, nobody gets involved enough to let a difference be made in their lives, and it's discouraging. I've watched teachers lose their passion for their career completely and entirely in less than six months. But there are good things working beneath the surface of Guyer, and the steady perseverance of those working to make a positive change trumps the lethargy of those teachers and individuals who have given up on trying to make a change and work only for their next paycheck."

"Most of my experience has been in AP classes and Guyer does a great job of finding teachers that do well in teaching the subject."

"I really enjoy the classes at this school. The teachers were great!"

"Overall, Guyer isn't the worst or the best possible school I could've gone to. I joined Guyer's Drill Team as soon as I possibly could and was on it for just under two years. Throughout my time on the team I learned a lot about myself, about leadership, about being a part of something bigger than myself- but similarly, within two weeks of quitting the team, every single one of my grades bumped up a letter, if not two. The pressure that the school, the faculty, and the parents put on students involved in athletics is beyond insane. Teachers cave and edit grades just so the kid with a good arm can start in the next game instead of being stuck riding the bench because their grades aren't passing. In turn, students don't learn anything, and long term everyone's hurt because in the end when it comes time to take AP tests and finals, those kids fail everything and get stuck having to retake classes or go to summer school. The system is completely broken."

"A high school experience will never be perfect, no matter how you spend it. There's always the constant pressure of college and from parents, but Guyer has been the best you can expect a high school to be."
