"Both middle schools in Weymouth are abysmal. As a substitute teacher in both Abiligail Adams and Chapman Middle, I've seen things in these schools that if the parents knew about, they'd pull their kids out in a heartbeat. There are kids sitting in classes with not just broken English, but NO English whatsoever. Administrators call it 'immersion.' I'd like to see some of the decision makers sit in a class in Tokyo, and try to 'just get' algebra in Japanese. It's absurd. There are at least 4-6 kids in each class with serious behavioral/emotional problems mixed in with kids who want to learn. The capable ones are held back while the teachers spend the bulk of the time trying to stop Jim X from swearing, or threatening another student, or teacher, or kicking over chairs. It's a frightening atmosphere days for both teachers and students alike."
