"An excellent school overall. Classes are very competitive, and it can be exhausting, but many students have the opportunity to attend top colleges. For top students it is the best possible high school to test your metal. They put about 15 students per year into Ivy League schools, and a huge number into top 100 schools. About 1/3 of the last class had a 30 or higher on the ACT. In general, teachers at Central are more knowledgeable and helpful than other schools, but there are always exceptions. Teachers are generally accessible and helpful. The guidance counselors are the best I have seen in a public school. Talk to them regularly. What you don't know can hurt you. AP courses are excellent overall, and the school offers more of them than most schools. One key exception is AP Physics, where even top students tend to score poorly. The course is not taught properly in my opinion, and even outstanding students tend to score poorly on the AP exam. Extracurricular opportunities are extensive in a wide range of subjects. Engineering and Computer Science related opportunities could be better for such an elite school. Athletics are excellent overall, but facilities are average to poor except for football. The BoD is cheap and continues to push facilities upgrades out to save money. Many people in the town do not understand the relationship between the school quality and their property values. As others have mentioned, the school avoids addressing numerous discrepancies between boy's and girl's athletic teams. The school is also required to identify its Title IX Coordinator on their website, but they don't. The AD gets complaints about this inequity, but nothing changes. Central is not close to Title IX compliant. If they ever have a Title IX audit, they will have to make extensive changes."

"Some teachers are great, others less so, but the students make the best of what they are given and are driven to succeed."

"Most of the student body is white, though there is a fair number of Asians. Ethnic Fair is a very big event held every year celebrating the school's diversity (mostly Asian though)."

"It is okay because while there is some diversity, it is still very much a white, wealthy school. In general, beliefs are not diverse (most people tend to believe the same thing, politically, morally, socially, etc)."

"The academics are rigorous and I definitely needed to work hard. I didn't really care for all the class options, as I found the science course options lacking (far too many physics classes and no anatomy, for example)."
