"Frankly, I thought this school was awful. My son's writing assignments had a sheet of paper attached to the front with different items checked off by the teacher if they weren't adequate ("used commas correctly," "correct form of word (too, two, to)"), but none of the commas in the correct location were put in by the teacher, none of the wrong word choices were corrected. How is telling him the commas are in the wrong place, but not showing him where they should go, helpful? As a matter of fact, his papers had absolutely NO marks whatsoever by his teacher on them; not even a "good description" or "awkward sentence." These were not first drafts either. In response to my displeasure, I was told that my concerns weren't part of the "progressive education" approach."
