"My child Is having a wonderful year as a 5th grader at Skokie School. Academically challenging enough with the right amount of homework for this age. We are very pleased with the progress our child has made both academically and socially. The teacher is outstanding. The Skokie school is in a neighborhood where most children can walk or ride bikes to school."

"Our school is a great learning enviroment for pre teens with phenomenal teachers. However some teaching strategies are not as effective as they could be. But over all this is a great school. By 3 consumers"

"The Skokie School seemed to be embroiled in some administative issue that were not made public to the students or parents. The District Superintendent resigned, the Director of Pupil Services resigned, and the Principal resigned. This is odd and particularly odd in a district servicing high income and high net worth families. This turmoil filtered through and affected the Special Services Staff as well as the Teachers. My child's accommodations were inconsistent and there were few portals through which a parent communicate with teachers or administrators. My wife and I have never worked so hard to stay involved and received so little in return i.e. a teacher web page, any kind of major classroom or standardized testing, or feedback on the social and emotional positives and/or negatives involving our child. After having such a positive experience with the District 36 Elementary School our child attended it was a disappointing, to say the least, 5th Grade Year at The Skokie School. I hope the chaos is reigned in next year and that the new administrators do a better job working with students and their parents."

"Skokie School is a hot mess when it comes to handling the social-emotional dynamics of pre teens. Academically the school is on top of things, but psychosocial needs of the average 5th-6th grader are met with apathy and platitudes. You don't go to Skokie...you get through Skokie. Hold on until the wonderful Washburne years. Dr. Rosen and her team have it figured out."

"Frankly, I thought this school was awful. My son's writing assignments had a sheet of paper attached to the front with different items checked off by the teacher if they weren't adequate ("used commas correctly," "correct form of word (too, two, to)"), but none of the commas in the correct location were put in by the teacher, none of the wrong word choices were corrected. How is telling him the commas are in the wrong place, but not showing him where they should go, helpful? As a matter of fact, his papers had absolutely NO marks whatsoever by his teacher on them; not even a "good description" or "awkward sentence." These were not first drafts either. In response to my displeasure, I was told that my concerns weren't part of the "progressive education" approach."
