"My two daughters attend PEARLS and its a fabulous school with very caring teachers and an active PTA. Only regret is that even with gifted and talented program the most gifted still get a bit left behind as they have to follow the NYS program."

"I have been at this school for several years. In a district the size of Yonkers, you really need to compare individual schools to that of districts that you believe are "good" school districts. That said, this school is the only one in the district that competes well in all aspects with those in districts like Scarsdale and Bronxville and is better in some ways than Tuckahoe. Also, the Parent Involvement and PTA involvement along with dedicated administrators and staff make this school a phenomenal place to be! So glad we are here, wouldn't change it for anything!"

"This is the best public school that Yonkers has to offer. Unfortunately, they are so busy teaching to the test that they completely overlook quality of life for the children. When the art and music programs were cut, it was the final straw for me. The archaic curriculum does not serve the students and the pen, paper, copy until its perfect method did not sit well with me. My son had a wonderful year in kindergarten but was miserable in first grade. Perfection was praised above creativity. Children are not allowed to interact all that much. They sit at their desks and do worksheets all day long. I loved the diversity and wish his current school had more but I felt like I had no choice. I pulled my son out in the middle of the year. Submitted by a parent"

"My daughter has been in the school for three years now. The programs are excellent, the teachers are good. The teachers work to bring every child on aboard not leaving anyone behind. And above all parent participation is amazing. This is a public school but run and managed like a private school. Kids are mostly well behaved. The curriculum could be challenging but if your kid is a rapid learner, this is a good place to provide educational activities and program to keep up and not slow them down."

"The kids are smart and what not but my son learnt inappropriate language and many other bad things like new words which I will not say."
