"Small school. Big opportunities. This is how we describe our school to friends that ask how we like Shepaug. We have two students in Shepaug. We appreciate the approach our administration has taken to employ a mix of career educators and professionals who made the transition from corporate careers to teaching. Together they create a foundation on which our students have the opportunity to learn beyond the textbook. What truly sets Shepaug apart from other schools are the opportunities for students to invest time on their own in academics, athletics, civic engagement and performing arts through after-school activities. We see many students like ours, excelling in Statewide, Regional and National competitions. All in all, Shepaug has proven to be the right choice for our family and we are thrilled to be able to raise our children in a small school district that provides access to tremendous opportunities."

"I enjoyed Shepaug Valley School because of its close-knit community and its dedication towards student education. However, I would love to see more diversity within the school to culture students. I believe that Shepaug should make itself a place where students are encouraged to be themselves and to create unique opinions and pose interesting questions."

"Shepaug Valley School is a small school, but the teachers there and the academics are very good. While it does fall short on some ends, mainly diversity, resources, and school culture, I do think it has a lot to offer."

"Although Shepaug is small and it can sometimes get boring to see the same people every day, it does lead to making close friendships and great connections with your teachers. Take advantage of the small classes before you go to college and take gen ed classes with 100s of unfamiliar faces!"
