"There was one thing about CHS that really disturbed me, and that was the level system. Lower-level classes were almost always majority non-white students who, rather than being encouraged to try harder, were simply never expected to improve and were treated as such. Therefore, they rarely moved into higher levels and were "kept down" by this awful system. Eventually, the ACLU filed a lawsuit against my school, though I'm not sure what the outcome was. While I was often disappointed, discouraged, and disgusted by the administration and the district, the teachers at Columbia High School were the best I have ever had. Most were compassionate, personable, and genuinely excited to share their knowledge with the students they taught. My high school experience at CHS was by no means ideal, and I definitely prefer college. But the hardships and struggles I endured alongside my peers made me more aware and prepared for the real world. In that aspect, I am grateful to Columbia High School."

"The best party about being at this school is the diversity of students. The African American students are treated different from their peers which get more favoritism. We have the best arts program statewide. I find the school to be very safe."

"My personal experience with Columbia High school has been fantastic over all. The faculty and some of my teachers have been my happy outlook in life. They have also better me and made me college ready. If I will ever have kids I would gladly put them through the same school district, and give them the proud family generation of Columbia cougars!"

"The school was very diverse and they have great teachers in this school. The school rallies around their sports teams which helps with school pride."

"Students are not respected by anyone around the school and you will always feel lesser than everyone around you. Teachers put you down and make you believe you're dumb."
