"NYC iSchool is one of those unique high schools that many students and parents outside our community will check to see if we are a private institution- based on many factors... including our peculiar name! However we are public, and truly one of the most different public experiences in New York City. Entering my sophomore year at this school as a transfer student opened many doors with opportunities such as internships, educational programs from colleges, and even a volunteer trip abroad for high school students. Despite the 4-5 flights of stairs to get to the school, the environment is filled with students who are open to make friends with anyone and teachers who will often go out of their ways to make sure each student has all necessities to understand lessons being taught. Classes are customized by students, with the opportunity to apply to AP's in sophomore year. I loved a lot of the modules at the ischool from theater production to pop up restaurant and astrobiology."

"The iSchool has great teachers and a really interesting curriculum which is tailored to every student. The majority of students are really creative and are genuinely good people. However, a lot of the students lack discipline and it s clear that the majority of the students don t see school as a priority. The school also doesn t help discipline these students either: they let students retake tests as much as they want until they get a good grade. On one hand, this allows students to correct their mistakes, but it can also lead to extreme laziness and a lack of preparation for college. The majority the students have each others backs but there are also some kids that go about immoral methods to get rid of their competition. These individuals make the school a unsafe place and threaten how safe other students feel. To all people looking at the iSchool, make sure that you associate yourself with the right people and that is the way to really strive here."

"The iSchool has some of the best most caring teachers of any school. There is a large selection of classes considering how small the school is. While the mixed grade classes in electives and modules can occasionally make classes to easy for upperclassmen, it ultimately creates a really special community. Most teachers are really accessible, and the college counselor is extremely helpful. There isn't much school spirit, or funding because of how new the school is, but overall it's very good."

"This school encourages independent growth which is very beneficial for the future, for example, taking initiative and playing an active role in your education. However, it's not always about individualism, as there is an advisory program that allows you to grow with your peers."
