    "There are a lot of academic areas in my school that are struggling, or are just mediocre. It is not that the teachers don't try, they just are not given the resources they need. Also, the curriculum in New York State is far too test oriented, so many students give up because they are not good test takers. The teachers really want to see their students succeed, so spend a lot of time on these students, often at the expense of not covering all the material, especially in higher level courses. This leaves students like myself, who hold themselves to a very high standard, struggling to teach themselves course material. But I have learned to manage it, and it will be a good skill to have once I enter college, so its alright. Also, I just have to say that the English department is perfect, and I have loved and been very successful with all my English teachers."

    "I find that, in general, the students at my school are very accepting of individuals, and somewhat less accepting of the cultures and backgrounds they may happen to represent. They sometimes stereotype, or fail to let go of assumptions they made before getting to know a person. Some are judgmental, and label people too quickly. However, there are others that are very open and fall into none of the traps I have just described. These are the people I have gotten closest to over the past four years."
