"I first came to Loch Raven when I was about to be a Junior. The guidance counselor really helped me when it came to picking my classes and since I was transferring from out of state a lot of things were different and they really helped make the transition easy. One thing I would change about Loch Raven was the condition of the bathrooms."

"I didn't really like Loch Raven. I still have my senior year left which I am going into for 2017-2018 but it doesn't really offer you anything. I wish they had cheerleading or dance but they don't. The sports teams not really good and it doesn't really get you ready for college. The SAT class that they make you take for a semester doesn't really help you for the SAT."

"This school has a bit of a reputation for being "ghetto". This is true to an extent. However, if you are taking GT classes, you will be fairly sheltered from lots of what goes on. If you are in academic classes it can be a hit or miss as some teachers are not firm enough or some are unclear as to what they want you to do in the class and give you a bad grade, bringing down your GPA. Rarely have I learned anything in the academic classes, not because I am a know-it-all, but because there is such lack of structure and insightful teaching other than "Raise your hand" and "Please be quiet". The administration has more than a few people who need to become more organized and firm with dealing with young teens like myself. After all, how are we to be focused on the lesson and on task with out a motivated environment. In conclusion, the GT program has a much more motivated ambiance whereas the academic classes have a "when does this class end" mentality. Hope this helps!"

"There was definitely ups and downs to my experience. One of the main things I noticed about the school is that students are becoming more and more disrespectful to authority figures."

"They say high school was enjoyable, and for the most part I have to disagree. The academics and teachers were fine, and the workload is manageable, but the amount of people who feel safe from other students here relatively varies. The food is lacking in proper nutrition and there aren't many facilities to enjoy including clubs. Parent involvement isn't much except for the occasional sports clubs or parent volunteering for projects. Teachers are fired if they do not agree with what the principal says. There is no respect and no discipline for the students who do something wrong, and they are sent back into class."
