"Kent Island High School was a great school to attend. I felt welcomed, included, and cared for. The staff was always friendly, helpful, and they all cared about each student's success. My guidance counselor was genuinely involved in my high school career, and did her best work to help me succeed and prepare me for my college career. The only thing I would change would be the characteristics of the classroom, teachers, and criteria. I do not feel that I was prepared for the college classroom atmosphere. After completing my first semester of college at Towson University, I had received the first C letter grade I had gotten since middle school. I was not prepared for the college professors expectations or requirements, as Kent Island High School's teachers and academic requirements were not as challenging or difficult. Transitioning from Kent Island High School to Towson University, I do not feel as if high school prepared me for all that I endured at college."

"The best part about KI were the teachers. While there were a few that I did not care for, generally all very knowledgeable in their subject and did that best to help their students succeed. Many teachers that I had I would trust with personal problems outside of school. Sports are the "big thing" while the drama department and anything else is ignored by administration. Administration is generally slow when it comes to solving problems faced by students, many of them show favoritism to certain students. Too much drug and alcohol use by the students in my opinion. Overall, not an incredibly terrible school, but some issues need to be fixed"

"Kent Island High School is a school that focuses on getting students through school to achieve a high school diploma. Of course, the school and it's administrators would love to see their students go to college, but it seems as if there is less of an emphasis on this, and more of an emphasis on just simply pushing their students just enough for them to attain a high school diploma. Overall, this school provides a decent learning atmosphere for their students, with plenty of help for those who make the effort to get assistance in the college process. Most of the teachers at KIHS believe that college is a necessary part of a successful life, yet their efforts to place students in that position is subpar."

"The teachers are great. The building is good. The only complaint is that the 9th graders are sent to the annex, which is in the middle school."
