"Was given all tools needed to succeed, but the school has unnatural demographics. Two sides of school entirely segregated. So you've got half the school smoking weed and failing their classes (they do fabricate and "help" people with their grades quite a lot, including myself at various points, so the statistics you see aren't accurate), and the other half going to college, with no middle class at all. Have to have 12-man security guard team and 2 staff officers to keep things looking normal, to be honest."

"Washington Lee was a competitive school, in academics and sports. It had alot of higher level opportunities such as AP, IB and dull enrolement classes. The classes were challenging but well prepared their students for college. Some of the things they should change is that the kids that the higher level kids and the average kids are seperated completely. The staff could also be more friendly and welcoming."

"I liked the diversity of Washington-Lee and the variety of courses offered. However, professors were generally hit or miss. I was fortunate to get a majority of the average and good teachers."

"Washington Lee is a big school full of really bright students. The school gives each of its students free macbooks to use for school. It's extremely competitive. Many of my friends are Full IB Diploma students, and have an extremely heavy workload. Students at Washington Lee are destined for success."

"Washington Lee has been an interesting feat. At WL you're given a huge variety of courses, whether it be intensified, AP, IB, or Dual Enrollment, you're also given tons of sports & clubs. The opportunity is great, but we're never really taught how to balance it all. It's HIGHLY pressured (by teachers & admin) to be in upper level courses & be involved in at LEAST one sport/activity. For some students this is doable, but for many it's not. I've seen so many students flounder with the workload & pressure to be an image that we didn't choose. Students are taught to fit a pristine mold that doesn't work for everyone, & it limits the scope of what learning & success looks like. If there were more focus on learning rather than acing a test the school would go much farther. WL is a great school with outstanding diversity & opportunity, but when it comes to putting everything into action the school really lets go. But if you go into high school with positivity you will receive positivity."
