"It is obvious that out of the two schools in the Jessamine County district East Jessamine has the most lower class students. Saying that East Jessamine has done very well. Many of the teachers create a special bond with students that help them learn better. East also offers many different academic opportunities including off site learning in different career categories, With this they also clubs and activities during and after school for a large variety of interests. Although one of the main problems at east is the special treatment awarded to specific students such as certain athletes."

"I am the youngest in a family that has all attended East for their high school careers, however, half way through, our principal retired and we received a new one who was given the task to "fix" us. There have been few improvements in his two years here (as of the 2016-17 school year). There has been a lot of events and promotion occurring with the goal of increasing school spirit. Sadly, this has had the opposite effect. Most EJHS students view their school almost as a joke and prefer to manipulate their schedules to allow them to spend most of the school day at the county's vocational high school. EJHS is lucky enough to have some great technology though. Every classroom has Smart boards and "learning labs" or Chromebook carts are readily available to every teacher who'd like to use them. There is also quite a few advanced classes that can be very beneficial to high achieving students in a school that caters most to the less driven ones."

"I loved East; all of my teachers were willing to help me succeed. Our school had over 1,000 students and my own principal knew us (including me) by my own name, it really made me feel important even though at home I just sat in my room. My art teacher always pushed me to be better by not letting me stay in one medium and to try something new. I loved it. I wish that the students were more disciplined though, on a regular basis if a kid was found with drugs, he was suspended for maybe a week, when the punishment should've been stricter. I also wish there were more opportunities for pathways; the district ruled that the arts were no longer a pathway after completing two, causing me to do an entire one senior year. Overall, I am amazed at how well a rural school did in my poor county"

"East Jessamine High School is a very laid back school to attend that cares about their students. The new principal has set in new rules that have helped out very many of us. One of them being standards based grading; where they grade you based on the learning targets that they taught you, instead of grading you based on how many you missed overall. Some of the downfalls about East Jessamine High School is that they are too harsh when it comes to their disciplines. For example, they have a new cell phone policy where if you get it taken away for the third time, they take it for the rest of the year. This is too harsh because most kids depend on their phones to contact their parents, their bosses, and as a way of contacting people in a case of emergency. Granted, those kids should be smart enough to learn their lesson the first time, but I still feel as if it's a bit too harsh."

"They allow graduating classes to paint memorials on the walls of the school which is very unique."
