"Awesome school, great teachers. One thing I would like to see change is the Science department, Several teachers need to be reevaluated."

"As one of 15 black studentsin my grade of 650+ students... I think I can accurately say that our school is not very diverse. However, I do not and never have felt unwelcome by any of the students."

"As an African American student at Eisenhower, I have a unique and often unheard point-of-view of the school. I am one of <15 African American students in my senior class of 650+. I certainly do wish that the school was more racially diverse -- African American is the largest visible minority at Eisenhower, yet it is only 2% of the general population. Biracial students are also counted towards the "Black" population, so the REAL % of fully African American students is probably closer to 1%. In fact, I can count all of "us" in my grade on both hands. Most classes here at Eisenhower, regular or not, have 1 or 2 African American TOPS, if the class even has African American students in it at all. Although our school doesn't have much ethnic diversity, I have rarely ever felt unwelcome. Of course, I have had my fair share of awkward moments in class during class discussions on race, ghettos, etc. but I have truly only heard racist remarks 3 times, and I remember each and every single occasion. In general, kids here are not raidst at all. I can walk into a classroom and not be stared at, which nice considering I live in Shelby Township and deal with stares basically anytime I go in public. But the kids are not racist -- we are a different generation. Most of the teachers here are nit racist either, although I would be lying if I said I haven't heard questionable things come out of some of their mouths. Although being basidally the only black student in class isn't the most favourable thing, Eisenhower has generally been pretty good to me and I am fortunate that I have been able to attend such a great school."
