"This is where I went to high school, and all though it is part of small town, everyone that I met there made high school so worth for me! The staff is friendly and most of them care about whether or not their students succeed. It is common that you know everyone and the students can be cliquey but that doesn't take away from the experience."

"I have had a decent experience at my school overall. I have had a lot of fun being with my friends in school all day, attending football games and show choir competitions, and just being a part of the class of 2016 general. Manteno High School is very small compared to some of the other high schools in Illinois (my class size for my senior year was only 163), and it makes it a more tight-knit experience. You truly get to know at least a few things about everyone in your grade when it is so small, not to mention the fact that I have gone to school with at least 90% of my classmates since kindergarten, and I really liked that about it. If I could do it all over again, I don't think I would attend Manteno High School again. I would like to experience somewhere new. Living in the same small town for 18 years of your life gets pretty boring, and even a bit restricting. Going somewhere bigger with new people would definitely be an interesting experience."

"Overall, at Manteno High School, there have been a few great teachers that I have learned a lot from and have had the pleasure of being a student of. That being said, however, a lot of the teachers I have had have been pretty mediocre. They often focus most of the class time on simply making the students take notes for the 80 minutes we are in there, and then giving us a quiz or a test without really having us look much deeper into the material. Other times, they just go through the class material very quickly and barely take the time to really explain the "why" behind things. The best teachers I have had have mainly been within the English department of my school. I can genuinely say that every English teacher I have had throughout my four years at Manteno High School has been wonderful to learn from (even in AP Lang and Comp)."
