"I went to PHS. The teachers were experts in their subjects, loved the material, and made us work very hard. Ultimately, they inspired me to become an educator. Academics are really what PHS does best, but there are fabulous arts programs, and athletics are well supported. Academic competition is a big deal: debate, Science Olympiad, math team, etc. There are lots of clubs. In general, it is easy for a PHS student to participate in LOTS of activities and sports. It's a great place to develop a big range of interests and hobbies. The downside is that the students tend to take on a lot and it can be overwhelming at time. College counseling is a great strength. PHS students go to a wide range of competitive colleges. College counseling now starts in the sophomore year. Anyway, it's a tough place to remain anonymous. Students get a lot of individual attention and are encouraged to develop a wide range of skills and pursue their passions."

"Pembroke Hill is a great place to go to school! The community is small so you get close with teachers and students. Everyone is always willing to help you and never judges you. The academic stress can get high, and it is defiantly not a relaxed environment, but you will receive a great education. The college counseling isn't the best. We pride our selves on being a college prep school, however, we don't get a college consoler until junior year. That would be my only complaint with my school!"

"Pembroke Hill does a great job of preparing students for college and teaching valuable writing skills. Students do work in high school that prepares them for a college level and many students say college is actually easier in some aspects. The school creates a "bubble" type of environment where socioeconomic status and amenities are used to determine popularity. The school is not very diverse, especially economically and can create an environment where it feels like every assignment is "the end of the world." The teachers are friendly, intelligent, and helpful and care about students' needs. The school is very expensive and cultures an elitist world perspective, which needs to be fixed by more diversity and a more broad world perspective."

"Pembroke has strong programs helping to develop communication skills. The school teaches presentation skills very well. However, math curriculum is very weak at Pembroke. At elementary school (including 5th grade) abstract thinking is not introduced. Many children who are excelling at math are bored doing very simple repetitive math (ex. addition, subtraction) even in 4-5th grade. Many parents chose to hire an outside tutor so that the students could better excel in math. As a parent, you don't have an idea what your child will learn by the end of the year. There is no textbook in any subject. As a homework, you get pieces of paper which do not seem to represent a continuum and expanding knowledge on already established concepts but rather introducing patchy concepts (ex. statistical concepts with outliers etc. which are not only unclear to elementary students, they are incorrect). Not all teachers are the same: some are very nice, and some aren't even approachable."

"Great academics. Stressful environment. Sports are not very good. Food is good. Beautiful campus. Teachers are very helpful."
