"My experience at this school was decent and also not decent. The decent things: the teachers, peers (some), school spirit, endless off days. The not -so decent things: the peers, office/faculty ignoring the big issues the school has (slight racism between senior students), lacks in diversity (school is 95% Caucasian), exaggerating small situations. I have my good days and bad days at this school. Overrall, it's a slightly okay school."

"Even though we're small , we are a growing, family-oriented school. Because of our House System, all seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen are active with one another. However, I feel that administration could improve greatly."

"My time at Pope John XXIII (now St. John XXIII) was full of personal growth and change. For the most part, I adored my teachers, but now that I'm in college, I realize that most of my teachers did not prepare me for college. My math is not at the level it needs to be to succeed in college calculus, and my writing skills needed work as well. However, I did have some amazing teachers who did help me prepare for college. The theology department and campus ministry were wonderful in helping me figure out my faith. I really enjoyed my first three years there; however, during my senior year, we got a new principal who made that last year awful. He took away senior privileges, fired several amazing teachers, and treated the students like kindergarteners instead of young adults. As a result, I did not enjoy my senior year, and would not recommend SJ23 until they get a new principal."

"My first 3 years of high school were pretty great. I began to get more involved my sophomore year, and the activities at school are wonderful. There are many extracurricular activities and clubs to become involved in, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. My senior year has been interesting as well, a lot of senior privileges were taken away due to the class below us (class of 2017) because they have a negative reputation, but other than that I've invested in many clubs. Student council is one thing I am proud to be apart of, although I've only been in it for one year, (I'm the secretary) it's been an honor being so involved with the student body. One of my most memorable experiences was organizing and planning homecoming, the dance, decorations, homecoming week, pep rally, and more. It was a lot of work but quite worth it. One last thing near and dear to my heart is the art program. We have an outstanding art teacher and our new art room is magnificent. We have so much talent in the art department and I am excited what we can accomplish. Even though I came to this school calling is Pope John and I am going to graduate now with it being called Saint John, I don't regret any of it. The environment is great, everyone is caring and it's not as preppy as you think a "white" school would be. (I'm Asian so I'm a minority here). I recommend this school to anyone looking for a small atmosphere private high school in the Katy area!"

"The are many many excellent teachers at my school and I am glad to have. Luckily I was fortunate to have the really good teachers throughout my 4 years of high school. They are engaging, insightful, stay on track with the lesson, and actually help us learn the material. Unfortunately, there have been teacher incidents in the past and maybe a 1/4 of the teachers aren't the greatest. I'm sure they're working their hardest to do their best but they aren't really good teachers. That is only a small percentage though. Many of the teachers I have I appreciate and I wouldn't want to have any other teacher."
