"Maryvale High School has a bad reputation for its location in the slums. Although many improvements can be made, this school's administration gives each and every student the resources needed to continue an academic path towards college, it's up for the students to choose to take advantage of it. The counselors can change the way they approach the students with encouraging them to go to college from repetition of the same words to valid and encouraging explanations as to why they should pursue that path. The students themselves can be rough and rebel, it shouldn't get to one's head because there are many kind students they are ready to learn. There are also many clubs/activities that one can join to avoid any negativity from any one."

"it's average, most of the teachers are very supportive and nice, but i feel like they don't teach you everything you need for the finals, in my history class we have to use these extremely damaged books that are torn to heck and missing a lot of pages, most of the food is bad and i normally go without it, though there is good stuff sometimes, one very good thing that all schools i've been to prior lacked was a complete absence of bullying, not once have i been bullied or seen bullying. however another downside is people seem to get away with drug use easily, the bathroom reek of it and a couple have been closed completely, i've smelt it on people and even seen it in use, one student smelt strongly of it and my teacher didn't even seem to notice, i feel like there should be more serious measures to prevent students from getting away with drug use"

"Attending Maryvale high school was a good experience overall, I had great teachers and took great classes. The difficult part of attending this school was some of the students were disruptive or just looking for trouble. Some of the students were not very committed to learning and would hinder the rest of the class. Had a great experience in club and sports, maryvale had a great track and field and cross country it was very competative."

"Maryvale l became like a second home to me through the 4 years of high school. I felt like I spent more time there then at home. Which goes to say that not only did I care to do good in class but so did my teachers who offered to stay late to help students. I liked that the teachers I had for Honors and AP classes were very involved with students and cared about our next steps in life. They showed that they cared whether you did well or not, as well as caring about what plans we have after high school. Something I would like to see change is for not only teachers who know students more personally to be involved in the academic life of their students, but also for counselors to talk to students to prepare them for graduation and college."

"Great school, with fun students and teachers. The school is very big, so there will be a lot of kids to become friends with. The academics are great, teachers are some of the best and they are friendly. There are many clubs that range from NHS to chess club. The athletics are also great. We have a very good football and basketball team. The sports that excel are wrestling and track, wrestling always sending kids to state and track consistently winning championships. Overall a great high school to go to. Highly recommended."
