"I love the fact that I am able to pursue my passion in the arts while just in high school. I feel like I am in a very professional environment every day, especially in my classes that are very student directed. However, because our school has six different departments of art (theater, music, dance, visual arts, cinematic arts, and musical theater), our school tends to become very segregated in that aspect and fail to intermingle the different fields of art together. I would like to gain more opportunities to explore different styles of art and performance and learn about how other artists work more."

"Great Arts education. Academics could be much better, not enough AP classes offered. There are a few really excellent teachers but most are just average and a few are sub-par. Students create a tolerant environment for diversity, LGBTQ, learning challenged, etc., but there is huge disconnect between students and Administration."

"Everyone is an artist, visual, music, dance, and theater. A diverse environment, full of energy and expression. Welcoming and accepting of differences."

"LACHSA shaped who I am today in that I developed what type of music career I'd want and I also started to develop leadership skills at LACHSA. I am still friends with my closest friends I made at LACHSA and the opportunities I got in performing at LACHSA are invaluable."

"School is very cliquey. Arts depts tend to hang around within themselves. If you make any academic friends it's a miracle. And then if you don't have them in classes again the following year, they go off into their own groups and you lose your friends. I have not had a great experience socially. Because I am sober. And nobody else is. So I never get invited anywhere, to anything. I have a 4.3 GPA and I'm in the top decile. I was one out of 5 students chosen to apply for a leadership/citizenship conference held by the Chancellor Emeritus at Pepperdine University. But I have only 1-2 friends ea year (usually seniors who are more mature and actually care about their grades), but then they graduate and I'm back to being alone. But everyone wants to sit next to me in Physics class. It has been very fulfilling artistically, but then kids are even more distant because they're jealous. But still want to sit next to me in Physics. I know several other kids who feel as I do. It's really sad. I know it will be over soon and I just want to get into college and put it behind me."
