"Once upon a time There was a boy Born in 1963 Born into the civil rights movement The year a Baptist church was burned in Birmingham, Alabama The year John Kennedy was assassinated Once upon a time There was a small Jewish kid With a life And a family who adored him Once upon a time This person was someone. Who tried to stay alive While trying to reveal The things that could get us all killed. A husband who was loving to his wife A father is what he could;ve been But a son is what he died as Once upon a time People were filled with hate. Once upon a time, He wasn t careful enough. Once upon a time, a journalist traveled all the way to south asia, To find real answers, Only to leave behind a family questioning his death Once upon a time, there was a man who inspired people. And his family and strangers. A school was created in his name And it would continue to inspire For generations. Once upon time"

"My experience was defined by the journalism program that is available here. I learned so much from my Newspaper and Yearbook advisor, Ms. Chavira. As now a first gen college student, she really pushed me to be able to see myself graduating from college in 2019. All the teachers I've had here have always wanted the best for the student. Since it is a school of just about 400 students, you get to know everyone well, this should be greatly appreciated, because you have teachers that not only remember your name years later, but you get to form great, personal relationships. I recommend DPMHS to anyone who wants to feel like they belong to something; it truly is a family."

"I love the small environment and connection between the students and teachers. Everyone is so nice and faculty make you feel at home. I'm very happy I chose this school for my studies because it's been able to grow my knowledge and prepare myself for college."

"Teachers were in general pretty great. They cared about the students, and the workload was nothing an average student couldn't handle"

"I was pretty much the only Asian girl in my school so I feel like it was just harder for me to relate to everybody else, but despite a few ignorant students like there always are, the general population didn't make try to intentionally make me feel outed. However, I've seen so much bullying going on with students who people just viewed as weaker or "gay.""
