"Stereotypes will be present anywhere you go, in the workplace, at the store and in life. At DLA, the school s students break those molds: A hyper math/science nerd loving theater, or a jock getting strongly involved in their education. The school cares, like Really cares about each other. I see it when I go to after school tutorial and students can be helped by their peers to gain a different understanding from a student s point of view. People care, that is what DLA is about."

"I am heavily involved at Del Lago Academy and have been able to attain so many opportunities because of it. I was able to obtain an internship at Palomar hospital to work hands on with patients through the Pathmaker Internship. I am a link crew leader and mentor freshman around our school. Due to only having varsity sports I've learned to excel and challenge myself against higher division teams in Cross Country and lacrosse and was able to become varsity captain for my team. Del Lago also offered me my first job experience which was a part time job as a peer tutor, tutoring all grade levels in different subject after school in tutorial. Del Lago has lead me to success and I've created wonderful memories through it."

"Del Lago Academy is a truly unique school in its culture, teaching methods and environment. I didn't realize how much this school had affected me until I talked to students from other high schools in San Diego when I joined their sports team. They have a very strong clique mentality which makes them very unwelcoming to new people, nervous when talking to adults and somewhat hostile to people they consider below them. Obviously this isn't true of every student outside of Del Lago but I was very surprised at the differences between our scholars and those of other schools. At Del Lago Academy we're trained to be confident when welcoming adults, to accept all scholars regardless of their grade level and to talk out our conflicts instead of creating unnecessary hostility between scholars in our community. I am exteremely fortunate to have attended this school and it I started something that I will carry with me into adulthood."

"I am currently a student here, and I absolutely love DLA! Every teacher really loves the subject they are teaching, and they truly care about the students. Although the school spirt is decent, and the sports aren't the best, we really are a big community. Most of the people are extremly nice! I can't count how many people just came up to me and said hello. And the curriculum is challenging, but the teachers are always ready to help."

"Del Lago Academy also has a relatively clean campus and only about 800 students attend. I like how every scholar takes the same classes which provides each scholar with the needed A-G requirements, which guarantees every scholar will be eligible to go to any UC College. Del Lago Academy provides 11th grade scholars with taking an internship for the 2nd semester. The internship can be really anywhere as long as the school accepts it and due to Del Lago Academy being partnered with the local hospitals, Palomar Hospital, then scholars are able to intern at the hospital which means the internship will last until the summer. There are not many sports provided at Del Lago, there is only Lacrosse, Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball, and Basketball. Counselors attempt to get you ready for college with taking tours of colleges and by college representatives visiting campus often. However, during my 12th grade year they did not really assist me applying to college and for scholarship."
