"While the school did help me academically, the environment was not the best for me. I am a quiet student of color and other students made the school less welcoming as a result. There is not enough diversity. I am not just talking about ethnicity. Most of the students came from higher class families with a college education. Having a lower income family and knowing I was going to be the first generation to go to college only made students more distant from me. Some even thought I was too poor and too stupid to attend Marin Academy. Besides the students behavior towards me, once I started attending college I was fully prepared for the workload and expectations. Despite my negative experience, I do not regret attending Marin Academy. The school itself is not the issue, rather the students attending. For this reason I give the school 3 stars."

"Everyone is super unmotivated to learn. I came here for two years but had to leave because I wasn't learning anything. Campus kinda sucks and is secluded."

"Marin Academy is pretty special school with a rigorous academic environment, deeply committed teachers and a happy, engaged well-rounded student body. You feel it from the moment you step foot on campus and engage with the students."

"As a student, you are taught that your voice matters, all voices matter, all humans are equal and must have equal opportunities and rights, and that education is an essential value for responsible members of a democratic society. The high level of education that students receive opens doors for them beyond the academic world. It also fosters high expectations. This applies to quality of education, facilities, faculty, and even food. Students are taught to analyze everything that they are presented with in a constructive way, but in the high-pressure atmosphere of the school environment that expects excellence, this can quickly be transformed into a pessimistic and ungrateful lens through which they view the world; issues are quickly identified, but few reasonable ideas to correct the issues are suggested. However, even noticing the issues and suggesting some type of solution is above and beyond the intelligence and performance of students from your ordinary high school."

"Marin Academy is a private high school in San Rafael, CA. It is academically rigorous, and students are self-motivated academically. It is lacking in extracurricular rigor, students opt to do more activities than to focus on one and spend more time in it. The school has a great campus and atmosphere, but diversity within the student body is severely lacking. Overall a great school that could improve some aspects!"
