"I've going to Gaston since kindergarten and I've always loved it. We are a big family practically and know everyone."

"Gaston has been losing and hiring new teachers each year, and it's been quite an adjustment for many students. The very small size and budget of the school hinders it from offering many courses. Classes like AP Stats and AP Calc are taught in rotation (one year AP Stats, the next AP Calc) which is a struggle. The only Honors courses offered are in English. Gaston has been trying out a dual credit thing instead of actual AP courses the past two years in conjunction with PCC. I know that AP Lit (technically Writing 121) and AP Bio are dual credit courses and thus not AP. The sports program isn't the greatest. Everyone knows each other due to the small size, and every student has a personal connection with the teachers. It is very easy to excel in this school, especially with the new peer tutoring program. Don't be afraid to ask for help, but be prepared to press for it. A few teachers are known for being quite forgetful, so hold them to their promises."

"Gaston is a small school. We don't have very much funding despite the relentless fundraising of the community, but we still are able to have fun and buy what we need. The students are all outgoing and friendly. Everybody knows everybody on a personal level. Even though we are small, our cheering section and parent attendances to all school activities is abundant. Truly an amazing school. I've learned so much about life and who I am as an individual, as well as educationally. I feel fully prepared for college and the real world."

"All of our teachers care about each and every student and strive to give all students the opportunities to understand and learn. They don't let us slip through the cracks. They know us personally and care about us and our success. Some are more strict than others but that is a great thing because they are adequately preparing us for the future. The teachers try to teach in different ways so that every student can learn because we all do learn different."
