"Since I've been at Barnum it has been the best years of school. There are so many great people here who help you when you need help or if your just looking for someone to talk to. If I could go back again I would without a second thought"

"The teachers a very good at what they do. they sit down and have one on one of students are confused and ask for help. They make the student feel like they are their parents or make us feel like we are their kids. They are always friendly no matter what happens."

"Negatives: We have quite a few coaching turnovers. There is a lot of politics that get in the way of what the students/parents want. Sometimes I feel as though it doesn't matter what the students want. Also, NHS is very based on politics not what the student actually does. The school is a basketball school; it is hard to get gym time for other sports. If you want to take advanced courses that are not in the school you have to take care of almost everything. Our school counselor is extremely busy all of the time, so she doesn't have a lot of time to work with individual students. Positives: The music department is fantastic. They are very open to student ideas, and they are constantly encouraging students to excel. All of my teachers were tolerable if not good or great. I have had very few problems. There are a decent amount of advanced class opportunities. They do a great job of utilizing technology, and the non-athletic extra-curricular activities are growing."

"Most of my teachers go above and beyond what is expected of them; they come early and stay late. In addition, most provide at least one or two fun projects throughout the semester. There are a variety of teaching styles. Most are typical lectures and notes with decent one on one. However, we also have three very hands on teachers, two high-energy, blunt teachers and three that let the class decide how and what they want to do (very independant). All of the teachers I have had at Barnum are at least a little interested in my outside life, although, they won't push it if you don't want them to. I have had very few times where there was an inconsistency in grading, and most of the time if you talk to them they will be flexible."
